December News at Sew Katie Jean:

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and are enjoying all of the festivities of the holiday season. Sometimes with all of the hustle and bustle, we need to remember to slow down and enjoy the moments we are working so hard to create. Thank you all for coming out for our Black Friday and Small Business Saturday specials. I am so grateful for all of your business and friendships. 

In this month's email, I want to share with you the classes and happenings for this month and what is coming in the new year. Currently, we have our Advent Calender Contest going on in the store. Each time you make a purchase between now and Dec. 23, your name is being entered in our daily drawing for a notion, fabric or event. I also want to remind you that we have gift cards available to purchase with a fat sixth of holiday fabric included for the sewists on your holiday list. We also have those little notes available to leave laying around for your loved ones to know what to get you for Christmas!

December Classes:

Boxy Tote Class 12/7 &12/9 (10-4 pm): This is a 2-day class to make the Boxy Tote Bag, which holds a featherweight sewing machine. Becky Rodgers is teaching the class. The cost is $60, plus the pattern and materials. We still have room if you would like to sign up!

Last Minute Table Topper: Sat., Dec. 16 (10-3 pm): Need a last minute gift or decoration for your holiday party? Betty Kisbey is teaching this fun, tree table topper. The cost is $35, plus supplies.

Bridle Path Block of the Month-Last Chance! 

The last day to sign up for our Bridle Path Block of the Month is Dec. 15. We still have room for 5 more people. The Block of the Month starts in January. The first Saturday of each month there will be a small demonstration at 9 am by Shirley Cox and the kits will be distributed. The cost is $35 for registration and $35 per  month for 12 months. You can call the store at 530-450-5462 to sign up.

Holiday Hours: Our Store will be closed 12/24-1/1  to enjoy the holidays with our families.

Happy New Year 2024! Coming in January:

In the new year, we will be starting a rewards program for Sew Days. For every 10 sew days you purchase, you will receive 1 free sew day. More details to come in the new year!

January Classes:

1/4 : Winter Fun Snowman Throw: Join us for a fun winter project creating this warm and cozy snowman throw. The cost is $20, plus the panel. I will have a kit ready for purchase on the day of the class with the materials to finish the throw. You can sign up online to register or call the store to sign up.

School of Sewing, January 9,16, 23, 30:This is a beginning sewing class! Ask and you shall receive! We have had several inquiries about a beginning sewing class and now we have one! This series of classes will be taught by Rita Traxler. In January we will have level 1, which includes 4 classes. The cost is $149.95 for the 4 sessions and the book. We will continue with level 2 and 3 in February and March.

1/6: Intro To Starch Applique: Have you found a pattern you love and then come to find out it has applique and you quickly run the other way? Well, we have just the class for you! Diana Meier will be teaching this technique class on starch applique. She loves applique most of all, so she will be just the teacher to inspire you. The cost is $50 for the day, and Diana will have a small kit available for purchase for $5 to use during the class.

1/12: Make-It, Take It: Self Binding Baby Blanket: This is our monthly evening class. We will be learning how to make flannel receiving blankets for those young people in your life who are having babies! The cost is $30 plus supplies.

1/11 and 1/17: Caravan Sewing Machine Cover: Ashlee Swain will teach you how to make this adorable sewing machine cover in two sessions. The cost is $60, plus supplies.

1/13 and 2/10: Garden Party Class:Back by popular demand! This class is definitely a favorite! It starts with a Laura Heine pattern and Diana Meier will teach you fusible applique during this class. This is a 2-day class and the cost is $70, plus the pattern and supplies.

1/18 & 1/25: A Place For Everything Bag:We had this class in the fall, and we are offering it again to those who missed it! Ruth Shields will guide you to make this bag, that will ultimately hold all of your sewing supplies, or other craft supplies you need. The cost is $80 for this 2-day class, plus supplies.

1/24: My Grown-Up and Me Series: Reading Pillows: Bring your favorite person aged 8-18 years, and help them learn to sew with this fun project. Donna Bengle and Marcie Morrill will be here to teach these junior sewists, with your help, how to make a reading pillow! The cost is $30 plus supplies.

1/30 and 1/31: Mystery Quilt Class: Laurie Johnson will be quiding you through this mystery of the medallion-style quilt over two days. You will be given clues to build your masterpiece and solve the mystery. You will have a beautiful quilt when you are done! Cost is $75, plus supplies for this fun adventure!

Block of the Months (BOM):

We have three BOMs so far for 2024: Bridle Path, Tinsel, and Shop Hop Block of the Month. Bridle Path will pick up their kits the first Saturday of each month (starting 1/6), and Tinsel will pick up their kits the second Saturday of each month (starting 1/13). The Shop Hop Block of the Month will begin in January as well. Those of you who signed up will start your traveling in January, as you travel to Quilt Corral in Willows to pick up your first block's kit.
