Do you want to learn how to sew? Learn how to use your machine? This is the class for you! This is a 4 week class where you learn the basics of sewing and you will make a project each week! The four projects are a draw string bag, a pillowcase, an apron and a zipper pouch. This new class is a prerequisite for our beginning quilting classes. When you finish this class, we also offer Level 2 School of Sewing with 4 more projects. This class is for individuals who are 16 years and older.

Always wanted to learn how to quilt? This is the class for you! You will learn the beginning steps of quilting from selecting fabric, measuring, cutting, piecing , quilting and binding. This is not a beginning sewing class. You should have some experience sewing and using your machine recently. If you need a beginning sewing class, the School of Sewing Class is for beginning sewists.

This is a class for intermediate quilters that is 7 sessions long. You will learn a variety of basket patterns of various sizes and will create an exciting basket sampler quilt top. You will learn accurate, quick construction techniques and how to accurately cut and sew various sizes of quilt blocks. Several blocks will be sewn in class, and some at home. This is a 7-month commitment, where we will bill your credit card the first of each month starting May 1 and concluding in November. Registration is $75, which includes the pattern book designed by Betty K.

This class is for our Folk Art Sampler Block of the Month participants. Pat Hertuma will be here the first Friday of each month to demonstrate and guide you on your block for the month. Come with your wool applique sewing supplies.

Have you ever wondered how quilter's get such small angles and intricate line on some blocks? Well, foundation paper piecing might be the technique! Barbara Carlston will be here to teach you the basics of foundation paper piecing using Jen Kingwell's Wensleydale Quilt pattern.

Come add to your repertoire of applique methods. Diana Meier will be here to share her expertise once again. She will demonstrate starch applique.

Have you seen beautifully appliqued wool pieces and wondered how to do it? This is the class for you! This is a technique class only. You will learn how to prepare the fabric for wool applique and basic embroidery stitches. When you are finished with the class, you will be able to tackle a wool applique project with confidence.

Linda Ballard is returning for another 1 day class! This one is called "Enjoy". Linda used several cute 30s fabrics, which we have plenty of here at Sew Katie Jean. This is only the second time this quilt has been taught, as it is one of Linda's newer creations. Linda will, once again, demonstrate new tricks and tips.

Come join us for a fun evening of sewing with friends. We are continuing with our Beginning By Annie Series. There are four projects recommended by By Annie in order to be ready for their more complicated bag patterns. In this third class, we will make the "Call Me," which is a phone holder and simple travel pouch . Cost includes dinner.

This is a Block of the Month Skill Builder for advanced beginner quilters. An advanced beginner is someone who has taken levels 1 and 2 of our beginning quilting class or the equivalent. Students must start the class in January and continue through December. No new students will be added after the start date. A credit card will need to be kept on file and the class will be billed the first of each month automatically.

During this 2-day class, the junior sewists and their sewing grown-ups will tackle a quilt from start to finish! Our teachers, Marcie Morrill and Donna Bengle will be here to teach the kids how to measure and cut, sew, sandwich, quilt and bind their own quilts.

Come spend a relaxing Summer evening sewing in our Sewing Room at Sew Katie Jean. We are having a pajama party, ordering pizza and sewing. We will have prizes and games, too! Bring whatever project you want to work on.

Elizabeth White will be here to teach this strip piecing, quilt-as-you-go method to quilting. You can use your stash, or pick up a whole new fabric line. You will learn the method to create the blocks, but then learn how to do the connecting sashing between the squares.

This is part 2 of the School of Sewing. It is a 4 part class, continuing on in the book with 4 more projects. In this session, you will learn skills to help you make a zip-it pillow, an essential tote bag, a pleated purse and placemats. The prerequisite for this class is level 1. This class is for individuals who are 16 years and older.

Need a fun, fresh quilt for summer? This quilt is fat quarter friendly, using 20 fat quarters to make this 56x70 throw. This quilt employs efficient cutting strategies, demo of half square triangle Bloc _Loc rulers, and chain piecing. This quilt is also great for centerpiece feature fabrics.

A touch of whimsy for your home. These tuffets used to be in every home long ago. Little children can sit and listen to stories; gentlemen can rest their feet, ladies can, too; and some "purrfect" pets might find it a perfect place to perch. Come make one of your very own right here at Sew Katie Jean.

X-Factor is a technique Class using the 7 1/2" X-Block Ruler by Cactus Queen. Betty Kisbey will teach you how to use this ruler to make a fun. modern style quilt.

Bring your hand-sewing, either your wool applique or your embroidery projects, and join Diana Meier for a day of sewing together. Bring your embroidery, applique, binding, hand-quilting or any handwork and come sew with friends. The cost is $10. This club meets the 4th Tuesday of every month.

This is a monthly sew day for those interested in working on their Lori Holt projects. Lori Holt is known for her vintage quilt and sewing patterns. Ashlee Swain is the club coordinator and she will be on hand to help if you have questions. We have reserved the third Tuesday of every month, and there is room for 13 people including Ashlee. You can register/pay online or call the shop at 530-450-5462.

Come join us for our monthly Sew Day to work on our Villa Rosa projects. Not familiar with Villa Rosa patterns? We have a whole collection of patterns for you to choose from that make quilt-making easy. The Club will meet the 1st Wednesday of each month. Karen Mullins will be our host and can help with you with any questions or guidance you need with your Villa Rosa pattern/project.

Amish with a Twist V is our Block of the Month for 2025 (January-October). This is not a class, but each month you will pick up a kit of fabric. We will have a 30 minute demo the first Saturday of every month from 8:30-9:30. We will need to keep your credit card on file, so we can bill you the first of each month for the kit. This is a 10 month program. The registration fee is the cost of the pattern, and from January -October the kits will be $30 per month. Please go to "Shop," then "patterns" and search "Amish" to purchase the pattern/BOM registration. You should also go to "classes" and add "Amish With a Twist V (BOM) Demo event" to let us know you are coming to the demonstration each month.
